Why Prescription

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Something I’ve noticed, there are only a few prescription wrinkle creams, but they are not good.  I mean with prescription acne treatments, they may be harsh, damage the skin, and otherwise not really be worth it.  But they do have proven mechanisms of action.  In clinical studies they do actually work to reduce wrinkles.  On the other hand, wrinkle creams in general terms don’t work the same way.  I mean prescription acne treatments you couldn’t find most of them on the over the counter market.  In terms of wrinkle creams, you could quite literally find the exact same formula in over the counter form and at a much cheaper price.  They never actually use proven wrinkle fighting ingredients is the funny thing.  They use antioxidants.  Antioxidants are all completely natural, don’t come with side effects generally speaking, and you can find these formulas for a few bucks over the counter.  But they charge hundreds for a prescription, and so often they don’t even use significant quantities of said ingredients.  So frankly speaking, there’s no reason to spend your money there.  You would think that for being prescriptions, they would at least have ingredients like collagen and elastin or something that actually addresses the need of reversing wrinkles.  But they don’t.

Go Green, Make Your Own Cosmetics

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Honestly speaking, the best way to go green in terms of your cosmetics is to make them in the comfort of your own home or just to use homemade remedies in general.  For example, honey, lemon, oranges, all of these have valuable properties to protect and nourish your skin.  The best thing would be of course to start early, and they help you to do that.  In addition, if you mix yogurt, grapes, tomatoes, and carrots, you can actually get a pretty descent mask that can help you to protect your skin, nourish it with vitamins and minerals, and otherwise.  The trick is finding the right one of course.  But there are also ones that make it easy.  They tell you right off the bat that they don’t test on animals, they don’t use animal bi products, etc, which is a big thing for a cosmetic company.  However, while these products are great for maintaining your skin sometimes because they have antioxidants and moisturizers, and they are of course all natural, they are not so good if you are actually trying to get rid of wrinkles.  Unfortunately, the really proven wrinkle fighting ingredients, peptides, are found only in animal and human sources.  So realistically, they’re going to come from animal sources.  As much as we wish that antioxidants would reverse aging, they don’t.  But the best way to go green is to make your own.

Facial Shiatsu

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

They have what’s called shiatsu massage, and they have all of those little massage machines you will find in stores like Bed, Bath, & Beyond.  But they also have shiatsu massage for the face.  It essentially speaking manipulates the muscles of the face and heals through pressure and manipulation in general terms.  It increases circulation and it brings needed oxygen to the face in general.  It therefore gives your skin a healthy glow and youthful skin in general terms.  They apply gentle strokes to the face in general, and it helps to restore an energy and otherwise correct imbalances within the skin.  It also helps to strengthen the body’s natural defenses and immune system.  All of this will give you the true benefits of a shiatsu massage in so many ways, and it will help to improve the skin and reduce wrinkles.  Shiatsu is capable of many great things.  But you have to use it properly.  The right practitioner can give you all of the results you are looking for, and frankly unfortunately there is no machine to give you the facial shiatsu.  You just have to visit a practitioner for that.  However, you can of course get the machines for the back and other areas of the body in general.

Red Wine Wrinkle Cream

Monday, August 24th, 2009

I’ve recently heard of them using wine based moisturizers and wine based creams in general for anti aging benefits in skin.  It doesn’t exactly work the way you think it does.  It works to some degree, because with the concentrations used in some cases and the way it is mixed, you can kill off free radicals with the right antioxidants found in red wine.  However, it falls under the same logic of using grapes or grape seed oil.  The difference is that in all reality, the antioxidants found in grapes are actually more significant than those found in red wine.  Plus, with red wine, your skin still has to compete with the alcohol found there to even get to the antioxidants at all. So while I love reservatrol, it isn’t exactly the greatest ingredient when found in a wrinkle cream.  You have to consider all the facts and you have to look at everything you could potentially have, and then you have to consider the whole picture.  In addition, even if it were not that way, reservatrol cannot actually work on its own.  It is only an antioxidant.  So it can’t produce more collagen and elastin and it can’t produce anti wrinkle results in some ways.

The Benefits Of The Orange

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Oranges are one of the best known forms of vitamin C or one of the best known sources.  Vitamin C is of course a powerful antioxidant which kills off free radicals that may cause premature aging and otherwise revitalizing the skin, giving it back a certain glow that it may lose over the years or come to lack in general terms.  The first orange tree was planted in Los Angeles in 1841, and since then of course its popularity has largely grown to a greater degree in general.  Since then, we have come to of course know more of the Florida oranges, and it has been associated with a greater immune capacity.  It has also been known for fighting acne to some degree, and there are now entire product lines for the skin including wrinkle care products.  These they claim will get rid of your wrinkles, when realistically as an antioxidant, all vitamin C does is prevent future wrinkles in general terms.  It kills off free radicals, that is quite literally about it.  So just keep in minds its real abilities and moreover its real limitations in general terms.  This will help you to actually take advantage of the benefits of the orange in general terms.

Glycolic Acid

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Glycolic acid treatments have to some degree been all the rage in the wrinkle fighting and skincare industry in general including in the acne industry.  It is basically alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids in general.  They are naturally found in sugarcane and grapes, and they can be used for acne treatment, exfoliation, and chemical peels in general.  When used over the counter, it usually has about 6-10%, and it’s in a cream or lotion in general terms.  It breaks down substances that bond dead skin cells beneath the top layer of the skin which causes dull skin and contributes to clogged pores in general.  These may then be rinsed away.  However, unfortunately, it is extremely powerful.  At just 10%, it can be neutralized and washed away with water.  However, with a higher concentration, you have to actually use an active neutralizer to follow it with.  Chemical peels use 20%-70%, and you can imagine what a chemical peel does.  This is actually one of the harsher chemical peels known to bleach the skin.  Even in the smaller amounts however, it has been known to cause various side effects.  So all of this is stuff to keep in mind before you actually use glycolic acid.

When Looks Are Decieving

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Now I hate when women look my age and yet they’re 20 years older than me.  I wouldn’t hate to be them, but I always envy them and honestly, there are various ways to do it.  But most are expensive and frankly some are just good genetics.  So obviously you can’t do that.  But it made me feel a little bit better when I found out that one wasn’t as old as I thought she was.  I’m in my 20’s, and she’s married to my friend’s dad, my friend who is now about 27.  So logically speaking, she would have to be at least 47, and it’s her step mom.  But still, she apparently wants to act like the real mom for all the kids.  My friend is actually a middle child of sorts, the oldest is actually 32 at this point in time.  So the other day I found out that actually step mom is my age.  My friend is older than I am, and I love her, she’s awesome.  But I have to wonder how that would be to have your dad not only dating but married to someone that’s younger than you, and that applies to about half the kids.  I mean I know she wants to pretend she’s all their mom and try to assert some authority, even though they’re all adults now anyway.  But honestly, that would be a little too weird to me, and for me I would probably stop talking to my dad.  It sounds harsh.  But I have about 100 reasons.  Still it makes me feel better that though she looks only a little bit older than me in all actuality, she is about my same age.

White Tea

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

White tea is known as the white tea leaf of course, and it’s the only tea leaf that has truly not been fermented to a certain point.  It has been known for its powerful antioxidants, its immune boosting formula, and its ability to prevent dental disease among other things.  Free radicals cause various skin cell damages, and it can cause various other problems.  It has been well known, especially recently, and frankly, if you want to reduce your wrinkles or reduce the risk rather, you want to use a powerful antioxidant.  You want to use something such as white tea.  It will kill off the free radicals causing said skin damage, and it will even in various cases actually brighten skin tones so that you have more beautiful skin than before.  This formula will help you to get the results you want if combined with the right other ingredients.  After all, white tea cannot actually help you to produce more collagen or elastin or otherwise to better get rid of the wrinkles that have already developed.  Other ingredients will be necessary for this particular feat.  However, white tea is not something to be completely forgotten for all the abilities it does actually have.

Dermabrasion

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Dermabrasion is a quick and surprisingly easy procedure.  It is an increasingly popular option, and it has been used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, sun spots, damage, age spots, and various other problems associated with aging and the skin in general.  They cleanse the area with an antiseptic treatment, and then they give you a local anesthetic to dull the pain and avoid the pain in general and afterward while helping you to relax as well.  Then they spray it with a liquid refrigerant, and it helps to freeze the skin.  After that, your skin is sanded with a sanding wheel or rotating steel brush, hence the anesthetic, and it brushes away the layer of the epidermis and some of the dermis or the next layer down of the skin.  This can take between 30 minutes and an hour depending on the severity of the problem in general.  The skin is then generally covered by bandages or left to heal by itself in some cases.  Regrowth generally takes about 8 days, and it can be red and sore for up to 12 weeks.  I would say for obvious reasons, unappealing.  Wow. That’s pretty harsh stuff, like a chemical peel and microdermabrasion combined.  So in a big way, if you can choose something else, definitely do.
